In the early 1980s, shareholders of the co-op owned Ocala Breeders'
Sales Company, a prominent Thoroughbred auction company, launched
a subsidiary called Ocala Breeders' Feed and Supply. During its infancy,
the company purchased feed from satellite mills and distributed it
to its customers in the Marion County area. By 1983, Ocala Breeders'
Feed and Supply had constructed its own feed mill just for equine
feeds and was on its way to becoming a formidable presence in the
Florida horse feed industry.
